Very soon we are going to be implementing Exchange 2007 in a new domain for a new organisation (two organisations are merging to create a new organisation). We will still be accepting mail from the old email addresses for a while, I need to know if it is possible to use a rule that applies if an email is sent to one of the old email addresses notifying the sender of the new address? Does this make sense?
HELP!
There is no way to do exactly this with a rule. You bounce the message with an enhanced error code. You could also start applying a disclaimer to outgoing messages stating that this user has a new e-mail address @newcompany.
Below is a list of actions that you can use, as well as some links at the bottom with more information about transport rules.

You'd need to create a transport agent to accomplish this. A transport rule won't hit for a system message.
take a look at http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/12/04/431755.aspx for tips.
Another option is if you are receiving mail to a non-Exchange SMTP gateway. Certain third party products will allow this.
