Quest Migration Manager Suite Wingra Technologies Migrator Products

Over the last few years there have been a lot of additions to the Exchange migration landscape. There is a good reason for this since there are a lot of different email scenarios that people are migrating from to Exchange 2003.

One of the early players for email migration has been Wingra Technologies. They have been doing mail migrations for many years. Though they recently have specialized in Exchange migrations they have created migration products for a variety of mail platforms.

Exchange Products
Wingra Technologies currently broadly offers their Notes and GroupWise Migrator packages. They also have an Exchange to Exchange cross-forest Migrator as well; however this is geared more for the service providers.

The setup is fairly straightforward and is web based for easy access. Typically though they will want to send one of their consultants or partners to help you get setup and going with the software. This way they can ensure that you are going to get the best performance out of their product.

Once you are setup migration is very controlled and everything is logged just in case a roll back is required. All of the standard features are covered here, mailbox migrations, Address Book Synchronization and mail system interoperability during the migration.

Standout Feature
One of the things that sets Wingra apart is their ability to migrate the end user data while keeping the process simple. For each of their Exchange based products they provide a way for the users personal data that stored on their desktop to be migrated to the Exchange server. This is something that few migration tools even attempt to tackle.

Conclusion
Are Wingra Technologies' Migrator tools right for you? That really depends on your environment. For small organizations, free tools from Microsoft, though a bit cumbersome, will probably work fine. However for larger organizations migrating from Lotus Notes or Novell GroupWise Wingra is worth a closer look.
