Hi, we have a multihomed exchange server with internal and external IP addresses.  there are host records in DNS for both ip addresses.  problem is, the external ip address is being served to internal clients instead of the internal address.  is there a configuration that will allow only the internal ip address to be served by DNS.

thanks,  Deb

You need to uncheck register this connection in DNS on the Network Adapter Properties for your external interface. You may need to manually remove the external record from DNS.

Thanks Joel.  We disabled Round Robin in DNS and that seems to have worked.  Both entries (internal and external) show up in the dns cache on the client, but the first one is the internal.  pinging the exchange server's fqdn returns the internal ip - so it seems to be a fix.

We tried deselecting register this in DNS and deleting the external entry from DNS, but it reappeared.  did we do something wrong?

thanks for your prompt reply!
