Some time after November Microsoft is going to start sending mail that doesn't have the proper sender-id record to the junk mail folder.
Some may think this is a strong-arm attempt from Microsoft to get the technology adopted. I would say that is obvious. But the good news is you don't have to buy a Microsoft product to use Sender-ID. It is a simple 10 minute (maybe a little longer for very complex environments) procedure to figure out what the DNS entry needs to look like and then a couplre more minutes to make the DNS changes.
Also, when Exchange 2003 SP2 ships, those of us that use Exchange 2003 will also be able to leverage Sender-ID for inbound mail. So the sooner people start using it the sooner it will make our lives easier.
It might make you feel uncomfortable that the 800 pound gorilla is telling you to do it, but its best not to argue with an 800 pound gorilla. Even the most narrow minded anti-Microsoft biggot would have to agree that if it were not for Microsoft's "strong-arm" that Plug-and-Play would have never gotten off the ground. Good things can come from a little arm twisting.
Sometimes people with a little clout need to nudge the rest in the right direction especially if that direction is inexpensive and easy to implement. That sounds very Anakin doesn't it???
